Hello my name is Kailtyn Grimes and I am a senior here at URI. I am majoring in Animal Veterinary Sciences and I can’t wait to graduate. I have wanted to work with animals since I was 10 years old, so now that I am in my last year of collage I am very excited to see what the future might bring. I will be 22 this coming December and I have two older sisters and an older brother. My oldest sister and brother are much older than most siblings, each being well into their 40’s. With this I get to enjoy having 5 nieces at the age of 22. I have lived in Charlestown RI my whole life, except recently I moved up to Narragansett with my two best friends since 7th grade.
I really enjoy working with animals and helping others in any way I can. Last summer I went to New Zealand for a month to do conservation work with a group of kids from around the US. We got to enjoy working with locals from around the towns and I learned a great deal from all of them. We also got to do an extreme adventure tour over there, everything from skydiving, bungee jumping, white and black water rafting; you name it. I enjoy being outdoors and keeping active, I love to try anything new at least once. I’m excited about this class because I have always thought about a teaching job in the science department and I hope this course can give me some more insight on what to expect.
